Nestled in the serene landscapes of Southland, New Zealand, Southland Nepalese Society (SNS) stands as a beacon of Nepali culture and tradition. Founded in 2019 by a group of passionate individuals, SNS has blossomed into a vibrant community hub, bringing together Nepalese residents from diverse backgrounds and generations. Our journey is not just about preserving our cultural roots but also about weaving them into the rich tapestry of Southland’s multicultural fabric.
In the vibrant textile of cultural diversity that enriches New Zealand, the Southland Nepalese Society Incorporated, stands as a beacon of Nepalese heritage and community spirit. It’s with great honour and pride that I, Bijoy Regmi, share my vision as the President of this vibrant community organization dedicated to celebrating Nepalese culture and fostering unity within Southland and beyond.
My vision for the Southland Nepalese Society, Incorporated is one rooted in inclusivity, innovation, and a genuine desire to make a positive impact. With roots firmly planted in Nepal, I migrated to New Zealand, carrying with me the values and traditions of my homeland. Recognizing the need for a unified platform to connect Nepalese expatriates and promote cultural exchange, I played a pivotal role in the establishment of the Southland Nepalese Society, Incorporated and proudly served as its first secretary.
Under my leadership, I visualise the society as a vital hub for the Nepalese community in Southland and beyond. Through a diverse range of events, activities, and initiatives, we will work tirelessly to foster a sense of belonging and pride among our members, while also promoting cultural awareness and understanding among the wider community.
Whether it’s organizing vibrant cultural festivals, facilitating language classes, or organizing community outreach programs, my vision for the society is characterized by inclusivity, innovation, and a genuine desire to make a positive impact. Our dedication to service will extend beyond borders, as we actively participate in initiatives aimed at promoting multiculturalism, diversity, and social cohesion.
